About
Gordon Scott Kennedy (b. 1959) is a Grammy-winning songwriter, producer, guitarist, and musician based in Nashville, Tennessee. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana and raised in Nashville, he is the son of legendary producer/guitarist Jerry Kennedy. Kennedy first gained prominence as a member of the Christian rock band White Heart (1984–1990) before forming Dogs of Peace. His biggest hit, co-written with Wayne Kirkpatrick and Tommy Sims, is “Change the World” — a global No. 1 for Eric Clapton that earned Kennedy the 1997 Grammy for Song of the Year. He has written for Garth Brooks, Wynonna, Bonnie Raitt, and many others, and produced Grammy-winning projects for Peter Frampton and Ricky Skaggs. A versatile session guitarist and longtime Nashville creative force, Kennedy continues to write, produce, perform (including with Beatles tribute band Mystery Trip), and mentor emerging artists.
