Mason Summit & Irene Greene are The Prickly Pair, a newlywed Nashville-based duo specializing in angsty Americana originals & classic country covers. Since settling in Tennessee in 2022, the two have released several singles as well as their self-titled debut EP, which came out last fall. Greene & Summit perform frequently around town & their EP has received airplay locally as well as on SiriusXM Outlaw radio, & earned them a nomination as finalists in Lightning 100’s Music City Mayhem.
It all began when Pennsylvania native, Irene Greene, reached out to Mason Summit to team up for a class assignment when they both were students at USC/Thornton School of Music—they were in the same class, but had never met. Then came a bit later a romance when they became a couple. And then, after pursuing separate musical paths, deciding during the pandemic to see what they could do as a duo. After that it was a big jump, moving from L.A. to Nashville. What started as a songwriting class exercise has now become a marriage and a debut showcasing their “angsty Americana” approach, The Prickly Pair EP.
