Trae Myers didn't wait for country music to come to Columbus, Ohio. He built a following the way most working artists do: one room at a time, one set at a time, until the rooms got bigger and the sets started opening for names his hometown crowd already knew. That trajectory kicked into gear when Trae won the inaugural WCOL Battle of the Bands, a four-week competition held at Bristol Republic that put him on stage opening for Kane Brown in front of the biggest crowd of his career to that point. It wasn't a one-off. Since then, Trae has opened for a run of national acts that includes Russell Dickerson, Chris Young, Chase Rice, and Kip Moore, along with Nate Smith, Jackson Dean, Chase Matthew, Clay Walker, Tyler Rich, Restless Road, Drake White, Bryan Martin, Avery Anna, Bryce Leatherwood, Lily Rose, Parmalee, Tigirlily Gold, and David Lee Murphy, and has been selected to open for national acts at Flannagan's Dublin and the Route 4 Farm Tour more than any other competing artist in Ohio. The media attention followed the momentum. Trae has been featured and interviewed on Good Morning America / ABC6 News, along with multiple radio interviews on 92.3 WCOL, coverage that tracks with a catalog that keeps performing. His single "Bad" has pulled in more than 750,000 streams across Apple Music and Spotify and topped a million combined views across Instagram and TikTok Reels, backed by an official music video filmed in Columbus. "What About You" debuted at #43 on the iTunes Country chart, and "Cheers To Crazy" followed it to #98 on the same chart, two independent chart placements without a label behind either one. The songwriting has real range: it moves comfortably between country, rock, and pop without settling into just one lane, and it's undergone the kind of refinement that comes from working with people who know what a finished record is supposed to sound like. Trae has recorded in Nashville with Grammy Award-winning audio engineer Zach Allen and producer Justin Wantz, who produced and engineered recent tracks including "Bad" and "Worlds Gonna Burn," and has performed at Whiskey Jam in Nashville. Those sessions show up in the polish across the catalog, from "This Life" to the Alan Carl collaboration "Southern Pines," a moodier, atmosphere-driven co-write that stretches the sound further than a straight country single would. Live, Trae works in two formats and books either one depending on the room. Solo or duo acoustic strips the show down to the songs themselves; full band turns the same setlist into the kind of high-energy set that's filled festival stages and packed rooms across the region. Both formats get the same delivery: Trae treats a stripped-down acoustic set with the same intensity as a packed Friday night stage, because the songs are built to hold up either way. What keeps pulling new listeners in isn't just the chart numbers, it's the throughline between the studio work and the live show: every session in Nashville feeds directly bac
