If you’re looking to hear a diverse selection of music, John Parker Presley is your guy! In his show, you can bet on hearing an Eagles tune followed up by a Vince Gill hit or a classic by James Taylor. By the end of his set, you will also have enjoyed some contemporary selections by artists like John Mayer, Brothers Osborne, and Kenny Chesney. JPP’s got the hits across multiple genres ready to go!
A Tennessee native, John Parker Presley grew up in a musical family. His dad played guitar, his mom played the piano, and his three older sisters swapped between the piano, violin, and even the flute. On top of that, everyone had a knack for singing. In the early 2000’s, the Presley family recorded two cover albums including artists like James Taylor, Alison Krauss, and even an original acoustic instrumental tune by JPP’s dad. JPP credits his father as his first guitar teacher. At the young age of seven, he learned to play the mega hit “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Beatles’ classic, “Day Tripper.” Naturally, JPP grew to love other 70’s and 80’s rock bands like the Eagles, the Doobie Brothers, and Led Zeppelin. In middle school, JPP began to join his dad on the worship team at church in the “big service,” as he liked to call it as it felt like a “big deal” to him at a young age. It was here that he got his experience playing with a band and fine tuned his chops as a lead guitar player. In high school, he began leading worship from behind the microphone as well. Next, JPP moved to Nashville and obtained a bachelor’s degree in music from Belmont University. Since then, he has been cutting his teeth as a touring musician playing all over the country and Canada with artists like Brandon Lay (EMI recording artist) and Gabby Barrett (Warner Music Group). In 2018, JPP joined Brandon Lay’s band as the opening act on Kenny Chesney’s stadium tour. Now-a-days, when JPP is not playing shows, he spends his time teaching live guitar lessons, video recording guitar lesson content for his YouTube page (Presley Guitar Studio), and recording original music in an American Rock & Soul band called Brother Maven. Sit back, relax, and enjoy listening to the vast number of artists and bands that have influenced the musicianship of John Parker Presley.
