pioneers of south east emo
Moab started during COVID, when everything felt on pause. With no shows and nowhere to go, the band came together out of boredom, frustration, and a need to make something real. It wasn’t planned—just a few people writing music, trading ideas, and figuring things out as they went. At first, it was rough. Songs were recorded in bedrooms, sent back and forth, rewritten over and over. There was no pressure to sound a certain way, which gave them space to experiment. Over time, that turned into a sound that felt honest—somewhere between punk, alternative, and whatever else fit in the moment. When live music came back, Moab had something to show for that time. Their early sets were built off songs that had only existed on laptops, and playing them live changed everything. It tightened the band, gave the music more direction, and made it clear what worked and what didn’t. Since then, Moab has kept building. The focus has stayed the same: write music that feels real and keep improving. No big concept—just consistency and growth. They started with nothing going on during lockdown. Now they’re a band putting in the work, figuring it out one release and one show at a time. From Moab: We are brothers of south east emo. that preform punk rock, indie, acoustic version of our own written songs.
