Ben Cannon

Ben Cannon is a singer-songwriter based in Franklin, Tennessee, whose music blends country, folk, and rock into soulful storytelling with a modern twist. Born and raised in Franklin, TN, Ben was drawn to music from a young age. He started playing bass at age 7 and later picked up the electric guitar in middle school, learning the riffs of Van Halen and other classic rock icons. His journey into songwriting began during his high school and early college years under the guidance of his grandfather, Rich Gootee, a Grammy Award-winning songwriter. With that mentorship, Ben found his voice as a writer, drawing inspiration from artists like Gillian Welch, Jason Isbell, Nick Cave, and The Eagles. His writing leans into heartfelt, lyric-driven songs with a country and folk core wrapped in rock energy. Ben has released three singles on Spotify, including a rendition of his grandfather’s song, “Jealous Man.” His music carries both the depth of tradition and the freshness of modern Americana. Ben’s love for travel and connection through music took him to New Zealand, where he worked as a barista and played gigs in and around Auckland — including a country-themed barn party reminiscent of Tennessee and a memorable show on Great Barrier Island at a local Irish pub. Now back in Nashville, Ben is focused on writing and co-writing with other artists, playing local venues, and building community through hosting an open mic night in Columbia, TN. With each performance and every song, his goal is simple: to make people smile through the music he loves.
