The Blue Mules are Josh Smith and Conner Derryberry, two master musicians from Tennessee who perform a diverse blend of old time, bluegrass, and country blues music by blending clawhammer banjo and flatpicking and fingerstyle guitar with earthy vocals.
Combining old time and bluegrass music, Conner Derryberry and Josh Smith perform a diverse blend of old time and bluegrass music with virtuosity and just the right amount of vigor. Conner Derryberry is an acclaimed clawhammer banjo player who has been performing live since he was a child. His deeply rhythmic style and masterful playing are what helps drive one half of The Blue Mules. Josh Smith has been performing bluegrass and old time music for the past 25 years and is known for his flatpicking prowess, clawhammer banjo performances, and earthy vocals. Both musicians are members of other bands and perform as a full band with Animal Control, a Middle Tennessee favorite.
