Nashville singer-songwriter Ronny Criss teams up with longtime bandmate and multi-instrumentalist John Donahoe for an intimate acoustic duo that puts the songs and storytelling front and center. A member of Criss’s full band, The New Town Sound, Donahoe moves seamlessly between fiddle, saxophone, and mandolin, adding a dynamic musical voice to Criss’s blend of Americana, country soul, heartland rock, and folk. Performing together as a duo for the past year, Criss and Donahoe reimagine songs from Criss’s catalog alongside a carefully chosen mix of favorite covers. Stripped down but never one-dimensional, the format highlights the range of Criss’s songwriting while giving the pair room to stretch out musically, creating a warm, spontaneous performance that can move from soulful and reflective to rootsy and energetic.
